Motivation and Determination go Hand-in-Hand | Kalpana Sharma User Journey

Kalpana Sharma

Household chores can be quite healthy for you as they help you stay active! But like any journey towards good health, you have to support your activity with proper nutrition, sleep and manage stress as well. In most cases, individuals find it difficult to do so. This may be due to fatigue, lack of motivation or proper guidance. So what happens when you get the motivation you need with proper guidance? Let’s look at how they helped Kalpana Sharma!

Lifestyle Before GOQii

Kalpana Sharma, a 36-year-old housewife residing in Pune is married with 2 children, aged 9 and 3 years respectively. Prior to joining GOQii, she had no time or inclination to workout or manage her diet. She was too occupied with household chores and taking care of her family.

Apart from being inactive, she suffered from high acidity for almost 4 years due to unhealthy eating habits. She also had breathing problems due to weight issues. The meals prepared in her household were cooked in ghee and oil. The consumption of sweets was high as well.

Determination to Start a Healthier Lifestyle

During her second pregnancy, Kalpana Sharma weighed around 96kg. This was a frightening experience for her as she did not want to cross the 100kg mark. She knew she needed a drastic change. After her delivery in 2018, her husband gave her a GOQii tracker with a 3 month subscription as an anniversary gift.

Her husband motivated her to lose weight and get fit. Her health goal was to lose weight and get rid of acidity. Her GOQii Coach suggested she eats Fenugreek seeds that were soaked overnight, first thing the next morning. She had to include salads before lunch in order to reduce the portion size of her meal.

For dinner, she avoided carbs and switched to paneer and salads. She was asked to avoid sugar in her tea and coffee and eat sweets occasionally. On the exercise front, Kalpana began cardio for 30 minutes for 5 days a week. She also began walking after dinner. Her GOQii Coach shared some workout videos with her which she used to follow.

Embracing the Change

Under her 3 month subscription, Kalpana Sharma lost 3kg. This motivated her to extend her membership to 12 months. She weighed 88kg then and further reduced her weight to 71kg. Seeing the speed of her results, she wishes to lose another 3-4kg.

As per her GOQii Coach, she has been as consistent as possible with her habits. She switched to healthier alternatives while cooking. For instance, she began using jaggery instead of sugar. Any cakes or cookies she baked were made of whole wheat flour and jaggery.

Due to her healthy cooking methods, Kalpana has been able to improve the health of her entire family! She has even begun innovating her own cooking methods by opting for low fat alternatives.

In addition to all of this, she has also started strength training as suggested by her GOQii Coach. She now does cardio, abs and weights on alternate days. Kalpana ensures that she sets aside time for exercise no matter how hectic her routine is. She is dedicated to the extent that sometimes she is called ‘crazy’ by her family members!

3 months back, she was diagnosed with varicose veins and her doctor advised her to not stand for long periods of time and to ensure that she doesn’t gain weight. Instead of being defeated, this has only strengthened her motivation to exercise and lose more weight!

For her daily dose of inspiration, she regularly watches Coach Tufail Qureshi’s LIVE videos on GOQii Play and follows his instructions religiously. She also follows Coach Arooshi Garg’s Cooking Show.

Kalpana is quite active on the GOQii App and has explored a few snacking options from the GOQii Health Store. She finds them very tasty and healthy. When asked what she felt about GOQii, she said that it has transformed her and she is completely satisfied with GOQii and wishes to continue for many more years!

We wish Kalpana Sharma the best in her ongoing journey towards a healthier life. Did you find Kalpana Sharma’s story of determination inspiring? Drop a comment below and let us know what you feel!

“My Second Innings to Life” – Sunita Sinha

User StoryWhen driving towards professional success, our health often takes the backseat. Long work hours, never-ending meetings and tight deadlines take precedence over being active, drinking sufficient water and eating the right food. As junk food wrappers and boxes pile up on our desks and body aches and pains creep in, we notice only when it is too late.

It is important to know that when you are ready to turn your life around and determined to follow through, it is never too late! You can always change, you can always work towards good health and explore the benefits of an active lifestyle. Our GOQii Player Sunita Sinha learned this fact first hand!

In Her Own Words, Sunita Sinha Tells Us About Her Journey:

“I am a disruptive educator with a specialisation in Robotics & Language. Chocolate cravings and binge eating weren’t alien to me. Corporate meetings meant eating out frequently, coupled with long working hours. The mental overload, stress and lack of physical exercise resulted in various health issues.

I would often gasp for air after climbing only 2 floors! To add to it, at the age of 40+, I have already had 6 surgeries, hypertension (have been to the ICCU), high thyroid levels, and a spinal injury to name a few. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

My GOQii journey began a little more than 6 months ago. I was given a GOQii as a gift. The initial hesitation, resistance and apprehensions coloured my perspective and purpose. A hectic work schedule and professional demands tempted me to not wear the tracker. I knew that I would be a complete failure when it came to implementing any of the habits suggested by my coach. I had given up before I even began.

Then, something magical happened. Something pushed me from within. I decided to take baby steps. While the initial goal of 7000 steps seemed like a fantasy, I started with 600-1000 steps. I became more conscious of my diet and water intake by adding cucumber or carrot to my meals. My erratic sleep hours were clocked as well.

Like a school child, I waited earnestly for the app to display the unlocking of all habits. After two weeks, it happened! It became a catalyst. For the first time, I felt a sense of immense peace and satisfaction which no professional laurels could ever give!

I learned to invest in myself. GOQii made me realize the value of self-care and self-worth. Fitness was no longer restricted to gyms as it was easily accessible through GOQii Play within the GOQii App. With GOQii Play, I could attend fantastic workout sessions at my convenience within the comfort of my home. The range of sessions gave me the luxury of choice to go with what I was physically compatible with.

Gradually, I overcame my mental reservations and noticed an increase in my flexibility. I would keep aside a bottle and drink 2l of water meticulously. To combat hunger pangs, I indulged in carrot sticks, small quantities of salads, peanuts and dry fruits. Though my tiffin bag became bigger in size with different boxes, they were filled with healthy assortments. I followed a practical diet and gradually learned to eat in portions.

My step count increased slowly, blood pressure became controlled and my thyroid levels were stable. I can now walk 6km in 45 minutes without any shortness of breath. I do short bouts of runs as surgical reservations don’t permit me to do more. Though weight loss was not my target, I have lost more than 7kg. To the delight of my sons, I can now join them on treks and adventure sports.

My personality has undergone a makeover and self-confidence has increased qualitatively. I can now work for longer hours and still feel energized. Mental exhaustion has reduced to almost zero. Through all of this, my amazing GOQii Coach has been a strong motivator. Her guidance has been impeccable.

Fitness has become my lifestyle. It is a part of my regular routine now and is as common as domestic chores. Thanks to the GOQii App and its wearable tech, my life and my personality have both transformed drastically! Overall, it has been a completely satisfying experience. This journey made me realize a simple truth that one must master the mind before one can master the body!”

What did Sunita Sinha’s GOQii Coach Have to Say?

Sunita Sinha entered GOQii with a goal to get fit, fight hyperthyroidism and few medical issues. Despite her profession as well as home duties keeping her busy, she always updated her meals and activities. I would help her analyse them, guide her on a daily basis on how to maintain balance in her meals, irrespective of whether it was eating socially or at home.

She took all the analysis seriously and started implementing them in her as well as her family meals. It resulted in her shedding some weight/fat from her body. The improvement is clearly seen in her health, fitness and energy levels and her body is toned as well. To Sunita Sinha, I’d like to say that your best version is yet to come!

“I Am Addicted to GOQii” | Darshpreet Gulati User Journey

darshpreet gulati Have you ever casually browsed through products and then stumbled upon something that changed your life forever? You might not have been looking for it, but somehow you found it and it transformed you into a better version of yourself. Our player Darshpreet Gulati, had a similar experience.

In 2016, Darshpreet Gulati was looking for new gadgets. He stumbled upon GOQii but wasn’t specifically interested in fitness at the time. After going through the features, he concluded that it was value for money. He was particularly attracted to the personalized coaching feature and thought that the device was a cool gadget.

Before Joining GOQii

Like most people, Darshpreet Gulati led a very sedentary lifestyle with little to no physical activity. He indulged in sweets quite often and ate out frequently. He weighed around 85kg.

Enter GOQii

One of Darshpreet’s key goals was to lose weight, get fit and active. At first, he was not convinced with what his GOQii Coach suggested as it seemed to be contradicting what he already knew about diets i.e. counting calories, skipping meals, etc. He then happened to read a well-known celebrity Nutritionist’s book. This encouraged him to take his GOQii Coach seriously.

He began following the habits introduced by his coach.

Embracing the Change

Darshpreet’s Coach had asked him to cut down on junk food, eating out at restaurants, drinking aerated drinks and most importantly his indulgence in sweets. He used to eat a lot of chocolates before but significantly cut them down after realizing what sweets can do to his body. He restrains himself even if his fridge is stuffed with chocolates. As he began getting more conscious about what he eats, he started exercising portion control.

His current dietary habits include starting his day with detox water and nuts. He then eats a paratha and eggs for breakfast. He keeps his dinner light and eats around 7 PM. Before GOQii, his dinner used to be rich and high in calories as dinner was family time and everyone would sit together to eat and relax.

On the exercise front, he performs light exercises accompanied with stretching. Last year, he trained rigorously for the GOQii Trail Challenge and walked daily with high-intensity exercises.

Currently, Darshpreet weighs around 64 kg, having lost 21 kg and is a healthier and more active version of his former self. He is a GOQii Champion and leads the Active Sunday sessions in the city of Gondia, Maharashtra.darshpreet gulati

6 months back, he was diagnosed with some back issue. This condition aggravated during the GOQii Trail Challenge. Due to his current condition, he has only been able to manage 4-5 sessions. However, this Sunday, he is charged to lead participants towards a healthier lifestyle and get more players to attend GOQii Active Sunday.

Darshpreet spends his time by joining live classes on GOQii Play. He religiously follows Aliya Imran, Shweta Kariya and Vishakha Sodha as he finds their sessions interesting and informative. He enjoys Divya Thampi’s class as her topics have helped him strengthen his emotional state of mind.

After his experience in the GOQii Trail Challenge, he says that he has grown even more confident. Along with a healthy lifestyle, he has begun to place more focus on his personal goals as well.

What did Darshpreet’s Coach Have to Say About Him?

“If I would have to describe Darshpreet Gulati in just one word then it would be a “FIGHTER”. He joined GOQii with a goal to reduce weight and for that he worked on his diet, exercises and most importantly, managed stress. Darshpreet believed in me and I tried my best to keep him motivated. The turning point in our journey came when he registered for GTC 2018. He was determined and worked extremely hard for that. Since the time he has joined GOQii, he has lost around 20 kg and has been maintaining it quite well through our healthy habits. He is indeed a FIGHTER!”

Epitome of Climax: The Big “O” Part II

The big O

I believe that a good night’s sleep, A good laugh and an exhilarating orgasm can solve humanity’s problems (not technically! But I hope you get my message!) None of us need to be convinced to make love and orgasm. We all accept and love that feeling! Having an orgasm could help improve your health as well!

In the Vedic texts, having a good and satisfying sex life is a prerequisite to reach higher spiritual realms. The Khajuraho temples depict that one can get the most from the energized temples if one is completely ‘over’ other needs and desires, including making love.

Apart from the said spiritual gains, a good and satisfying sex life has numerous other benefits too!

Having an orgasm is fun and that’s it! If a good one can bring in some happiness, which in turn impacts other aspects of a human’s life, then one must go for it!

Benefits of an Orgasm

  • Stress Relief: Having an orgasm releases Oxytocin, the relaxing hormone. It also stimulates feelings of warmth and relaxation. The part of the brain associated with fear and anxiety, shows little to no activity. And hence the “ahaah” feeling.
  • Building a Relationship: Pleasuring your partner by making love is critical among many other aspects as well. A number of psychosomatic disorders are linked to unsatisfied or unwanted sexual life.
  • Relieving Pain: Orgasms lead to Neurotransmissions which reduce the feeling of pain. This includes pain from arthritis and pain after surgery. According to research, women’s pain tolerance and pain detection increased by 74.6 percent and 106.7 percent respectively, when those women masturbated to orgasm.
  • Better Skin: Ever seen that glow on the face of people who are in love? The feeling of being in love and cherished is also felt by people who orgasm. You will feel happy, loved and cherished inside which will reflect on your skin tone too!

What can you do to Orgasm?

While the actual ‘act’ matters to reach the O, a number of other random factors impact it too.

A few things to do before THE ACT

  1. While I do not want to emphasize that you plan, but just be aware of what your partner wants. Does he/she likes it when you hug or kiss? Or does a simple “I love you” works? Does he/she like it romantic? Remember, pleasuring your partner many times will lead you to your own pleasure as well. And needless to say, it helps build your relationship.
  2. Communicate: Ask what your partner likes and tell what you like.
  3. Take a few mindful moments to decompress from your day. Focusing on being present with your partner will make you more likely to Orgasm.
  4. Enjoy. Yes, sex is for procreation, but it is to have fun too! Be in the mood & go for it.
  5. It is said that the chances of a healthy sex life largely depends on your equation with your partner. If you love them, the better your chances are of orgasming. So the one night stands might not always lead to the gratification you are looking for!
  6. It might seem like your orgasm is your partner’s responsibility (and let’s be honest, having the moves definitely contributes), but researchers have also found that your sense of self-esteem and satisfaction with your body is a huge contributing factor. So be happy with yourself, with the body you have and go for it!
  7. Eat foods which increase the heat in the body, like garlic, onions, potatoes, broccoli, nuts, etc.  are known to increase the libido.
