Being The Force Of The Police Force: Nandu Ughale User Journey

Nandu UghaleDuring this entire COVID-19 pandemic, one cannot deny the role that our frontline heroes – the police force have played by tirelessly working to ensure that lockdown rules were followed and providing assistance wherever required. While our unsung heroes do their best to protect us from the pandemic, who is protecting them? Good effort in the service of others rarely goes unrewarded. Let’s look at the story of one of our heroes, Nandu Ughale from the Nashik Police Force.

Being an Active Force of the Police Force!

Nandu Ughale has served the Nashik City Police for over 13 years. Before joining the force, he hailed from a poor farmer family and came from a remote village in Maharashtra. Facing great difficulties and challenges, he got himself a graduation degree and joined the police force. He was always enthusiastic about running and slowly began participating in various running and cycling events at national and international levels. He says that he has won so many medals and trophies that he’s lost count but is determined to add more!

In his first international trip to Australia in 2015, he managed to bag gold medals in the 400m and 1500m category, silver in 200m and 5000m, and bronze in 21km. He was elated that he had done his country proud – that too without proper training, diet or facilities at the time. He was going to participate at another event in Japan this year which got cancelled due to the pandemic. Apart from these athletic events, he has participated in numerous half and full marathons.

Beginning of a New Journey Towards Good Health

In the wake of the Pandemic, Shri Vishwas Nangare Patil, Commissioner of Police, Nashik, handed over GOQii trackers to the entire police force. He explained the features of the band, how to track and sync with the app as well as interact with the coach.

While Nandu Ughale was already at his prime and was quite an active athlete, how could GOQii help him? There were still a few areas for improvement which his GOQii Coach identified. Though he was active, his activities were not structured. Small changes were introduced by his coach:

  • Begin with a proper pre and post workout meal which included dates and bananas for pre-workout and eggs for post workout.
  • To improve digestion, he was asked to add buttermilk to his lunch
  • Morning detox included a glass of lemon water with a dash of cinnamon and honey upon waking up
  • Chana or grams for mid meals to avoid long gaps between lunch and dinner

With these changes, his stamina improved along with sleep duration and quality. He lost 5kg and increased his muscle mass. Another noteworthy change after GOQii was the introduction of the habit of walking – which even his colleagues developed. Earlier, they used to patrol on bikes but now, they make it a point to walk down the roads which has helped a lot in ensuring people follow movement restrictions. To this he says that petrol is saved and so is their health.

What Does Police Officer Nandu Ughale Think About GOQii?

He says that GOQii helped him realize that he is not just serving the country and society but he needs to serve himself – his health as well. His coach has constantly motivated him to focus on himself first so that he can focus better on his duty towards the country. He adds that age is just a number and if you’re determined and sincere, you can stay fit throughout your entire life without any illness or diseases.

We salute the efforts of Nandu Ughale and his dedication to serve the country as well as remain fit and active!

Gear up as we’re going to share more insights on the life and journey towards an active lifestyle of our Police Force in the coming weeks! For more successful user stories, check out Healthy Reads within the GOQii App.

GOQii Smart Vital

The COVID-19 pandemic put a lockdown on our lifestyle, the way we function daily and many aspects of our physical, mental and emotional health – and it is far from over. While the panic still continues, it becomes important to measure your vitals like blood oxygen and body temperature as these two are known indicators of COVID-19. Imagine having a device that could help you track these. Well, you don’t need to imagine any more because this device exists and it’s called the GOQii Smart Vital!

According to medical experts, COVID-19 patients are found to have lower oxygen rate, hence the device is crucial in diagnosing and monitoring COVID-19 symptoms. The perfect combination of tracking body temperature and blood oxygen will help in immediate tracking of potential cases.

Apart from monitoring your SpO2, it can also:

  • Measure body temperature

  • Water Resistant

Our Founder and CEO Vishal Gondal says, “We are on the path of innovation with the GOQii Smart Vital that will help in detection, isolation and monitoring of coronavirus cases. The key is to understand your symptoms and correlate them to changes in body vitals. As we battle the pandemic, this smart device will enable you to understand your health better while you Keep A Watch on crucial parameters such as blood oxygen levels, body temperature, heart rate & blood pressure. The moment you detect temperature changes coupled with low blood oxygen levels, you know you have to contact your healthcare provider and get tested”.

“The GOQii Vital 3.0 was handed over to Mumbai, Jalandhar and Nashik police, and we have seen the impact it has had on our police force. It helped them in quick detection and isolation thus ensuring that the virus does not spread. Using such devices will eventually become a necessity as we are slowly gearing to resume normal life”, said Akshay Kumar at the launch of GOQii Smart Vital.

Get Ready For The New Normal With the GOQii Vital 3.0

GOQii Vital 3.0

When 2020 began, we all imagined new beginnings, new resolutions, made a list of places to travel to, thought of picking up new hobbies and probably exploring new ventures. All those glorious plans came to a standstill when the COVID-19 pandemic came to our doorstep. With almost half a year in lockdown, all our plans had to be flushed in what we would like to call writhing anguish. But amidst all the chaos and fear, we did not stop innovating, rebuilding and taking caution. This led to the creation of something unique which proved useful during the crisis – the GOQii Vital 3.0.

What is the GOQii Vital 3.0?

In May 2020, we announced the launch of a major breakthrough in early COVID-19 detection tracing through our new device, the GOQii Vital 3.0 which is one of the world’s first major disruptions in COVID-19 prevention. The wristband comes with sensors to detect body temperature which is an early symptom of COVID-19. Apart from tracking body temperature, the device also measures your blood pressure, heart rate and sleep while keeping a check on your step count and calories.

The GOQii Vital 3.0 has an inbuilt temperature display and thermal sensor that has two ways of temperature monitoring – the continuous monitoring feature and the on-demand feature for users who would like to check at their convenience. The temperature range is 77°F to 113 °F with an accuracy of +/- 0.3 °F.

Other Features

Apart from detecting body temperature, the GOQii Vital 3.0 also has some other exciting features:

  • Tracking steps, distance, calories burned and active time
  • 24×7 heart rate monitoring
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Exercise mode
  • Auto sleep tracking
  • Connect with phone for notifications

Partnerships and Study

Given the advanced preventive health capabilities of the platform, GOQii’s Brand Ambassador Akshay Kumar has donated 1,000 GOQii Vital 3.0 bands to Mumbai and Nashik Police who are at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19. The Mumbai Police department was the first organisation in the world enabled to remotely track and manage the health of its Personnel via the GOQii Preventive Health Platform.

GOQii has partnered with Thryve, a German healthtech company focusing on aggregation and analysis of health data generated by wearables, medical devices and other health data sources. Thryve’s machine learning-based algorithms provide actionable insights on infectious diseases like COVID-19, depression and other medical conditions. They help health services to uncover the underlying patterns, detect people’s health progress trajectory and lead health-care with proactive insight provisioning. Through this partnership, GOQii will conduct a clinical study in India to check the accuracy of early detection of COVID-19. Detection of characteristic changes in body temperature and other vital data enable early detection of COVID-19 symptoms. The combination of Thryve’s unique machine learning-based algorithms and GOQii’s Vital 3.0 Smart band will usher a breakthrough in technology advancement to address the current crisis in timely detection of COVID -19 that has engulfed the globe.

So what are you waiting for? Get ready for the new normal! Go pick your own GOQii Vital 3.0 now and say hello to good health and great healthcare!

9 Things To Do Once Lockdown Ends

lockdownSlowly and gradually, the lockdown will be lifted in phases in the green zones, but this surely doesn’t mean that the pandemic is over. By now, most of us might be ready with a list of things to do the day this lockdown ceases. Before you jump into action again take a look at the things to keep in mind.

Thing To Keep In Mind Once Lockdown Ends

  1. Sanitization: A simple and effective way to stay away from this life threatening virus is to wash hands thoroughly. Carry a bottle of sanitizer with you while stepping out of the house in case you have touched anything suspicious you can immediately sanitize. So let’s continue with this habit which we have cultivated during this lockdown.
  2. Mask is here to stay: Wearing a mask while going out has to be followed as this can prevent us from coming in contact with respiratory droplets of an asymptomatic COVID positive person. Use of gloves is also recommended in cases of coming in contact with people like going to market places or using the local transport.
  3. Socializing: After almost three months of staying indoors, there will be an immense urge to meet family and friends specially those who were tested positive, but hold on for a few more days as lockdown relaxation doesn’t mean the virus has extinguished. Venture out only for important work. Choose to work from home if possible.
  4. Overindulgence: Restaurants and food joints will gradually be back in business. Online food apps will be functional soon but do not pounce on all that fancy food for obvious reasons. This lockdown has taught us that simple home cooked food can be nutritious as well as delicious!
  5. Don’t Ditch Exercise: Necessity is the mother of all invention! This lockdown taught us some great ways to stay healthy, happy and be occupied. Be it yoga, strength training, walking exercises, fun exercise with kids or even 5k and 10k runs at home have contributed immensely in building up our immunity..
  6. Don’t Overwork: Major section of people have been jobless during this period. Fear of uncertainty and decline in vitamin M [money] encourages people to jump back to work. But draw a clear line between work and overwork. Remember overload can make you more susceptible to this virus and hospitalization can drain all your savings.
  7. Do not Compromise Sleep: Time and again, this vital component of health has been ignored. Good sleep cycle during these two months does make up for all those sleep deprived nights! Sound and deep sleep is a ritual which needs to follow every day.
  8. Don’t Stop Immunity Boosting Food: While we take pride in the fact of strong immunity, let’s not ditch it once the lockdown ceases. Vitamin C rich foods, herbal kada, zinc rich food are the secret of strong immunity. They have to be a part of our daily intake. Once the lockdown has been lifted, it is all the more important to have a stronger immune system
  9. Maintain Bonds: This pandemic has forced us with quantitative family time. Bonding with family members has helped us sail through this rough weather and will continue in the future too. Healthy bonding at home is like a strong backbone which keeps us in the pink of health because being healthy outside begins by being healthy inside.

Most importantly, don’t forget to support local businesses. You can also check out the GOQii Health Store within the app. We hope you will consider these suggestions once lockdown ends and life goes back to the way it was. Do leave your thoughts in the comments below. For more tips on immunity, health, fitness and wellness, check out Healthy Reads within the app or tune in to GOQii Play.
