Independence Day in a nutritious way!

A challenge to players to come up with tri-colour nutritious dishes

Lifestyle and fitness coaches at GOQii, are not mere coaches, they are friends to their players. Over time they build a bond with their players so much so that the players are not scared to take up challenges thrown at them. Be it a day’s water fasting, no sugar challenge etc.

Trishala Chopra is one enthusiastic coach who never keeps still. She is always up to coming up   with newer things for her players to keep them encouraged and motivated at achieving their health and lifestyle goals.

The last time, she threw a challenge to players on the International Yoga day and her players accepted that challenge that sent her pictures of them performing Yoga at home. After a successful celebration of the virtual yoga day, on India’s 70th Independence Day, Trishala wanted to do something different. So on the morning of 15th August, she decided to throw a challenge to her players. And the challenge was to prepare and eat a healthy tricolour dish! She sent a message to all her players regarding the same.

Trishala has shared her experience with all of us through this blog. Since it was a long weekend and all would be enjoying their holidays, I was not sure if any of them would accept my challenge. But, to my surprise, I received so many positive responses to my challenge. Most of them had agreed to make a healthy dish.

Today, in the morning when I opened my dashboard again, I was celebrating a nutritious Independence Day. Most of my players had a healthy and nutritious tricolour dishes. But, few sent me pictures and I found that they had not only prepared the dishes but, had presented it beautifully as well.

Here is a look at my 3 players who took up the challenge and sent me pictures of their dishes are as follows

(i) Swapna Ravi- he had prepared an open sandwich with carrots, radish, and capsicum on a slice of brown bread and she did not miss our Asoka chakra as well! She kept a piece of dried fig to make it our complete flag! Hats off to the imagination! Well done!

(ii) Vatsal Khimasiya- I had asked them to prepare any one dish but, Vatsal prepared 2 dishes! While everyone was busy using vegetables, he did not upset fruits! He used both of them making a completely new dish!

(iii) Pradeep Dias-He had prepared a very healthy tri colour salad using carrots, French beans, and veggies tossed with white sauce! Well done Pradeep!

The creativity of human mind is amazing and when it starts ticking there is no stopping and big things can be achieved. It’s not about being impeccably good at what you’re doing but, it’s about attempting to come up with interesting things that you might have never done before. This is what I realised with my three players and really proud of them to have taken this challenge so positively. Despite, the long weekend, they still took time out to try something out of the box and send it to me. Well, done Swapna, Vatsal and Pradeep.

I would like to conclude by saying that my players keep me motivated and push me to think differently. I am ever grateful to them and it’s because of them that I feel confident and blessed as a coach.

GOQii launches V2 with the expansion into integrated lifestyle management — Adds Doctors and Diagnostics to its Coaching Service

GOQii Ecosystem

Whoever thought that fitness could not be fun? All thanks to GOQii, the technology enabled Health and Wellness Company has changed the way people looked at fitness and lifestyle in India. Two years ago, GOQii realized that only a fitness band will make no sense and became the first to launch version 1 of the band with an integrated human coach. The coach could work with the user’s data to provide customized advice on a regular basis, keeping the user motivated and on track to success through goal reinforcement.

But, it just does not end there. The company has been constantly researching on what could be the next big thing. And bingo! They realized that the version 2.0 was going to be larger than their V1 with lot more interesting features and services on the platform.

GOQii with the launch of its V2 has expanded into ‘Integrated Lifestyle Management’ by integrating doctors and diagnostics, with a bouquet of additional health features such as the Health Risk Assessment (HRA) and Health locker along with the all new GOQii fitness band.

GOQii Doctor:

The doctors on GOQii platform themselves believe in lifestyle and minimalistic usage of medication. GOQii has brought on board doctors trained in dealing with general medical and lifestyle related issues. Emotional wellness, counselling and preventive health being the main focus of the doctors, they will collectively work with the coaches and diagnose user’s health and lifestyle problems. The doctor’s consultation will be available to the users through an app-based service over chat and voice call

GOQii Health Locker:

Ever heard of a health locker? Well, now GOQii will also provide you with a health locker where you can safely deposit all your reports post the diagnosis. The health locker acts as a repository for the user’s medical diagnostic history making it readily available to all- coaches, users, doctors on or off the platform, with the consent of the user.

GOQii Health Risk Assessment:

The users will also be able to take a comprehensive Health Risk Assessment (HRA) giving them detailed insights into their overall health situation and a health score.

That’s not all, GOQii V2  hardware also has some interesting features like no other. Some of the Key upgrades of the new GOQii fitness band are:

  • Auto Sleep : The new band comes with an auto sleep detection feature
  • Integrated charger and improved battery life

GOQii supports children affected during terror attacks through Ratnanidhi

2

Mumbai has seen some gruesome terrorist attacks in the past few years. As a result many families have lost their loved ones to these inhuman activities. Most children of these families have lost their financial support and were left with an unstable future. Given this background, the first thing that takes a back seat is always the child’s education.

Let me cite an example of one terror affected family……

“At a tender age of seven, Anjali lost her father during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. A garage worker by profession was shot in his head at Chatrapati Shivaji Terminal Railway Station. Fortunately his mother survived the attack but, was critically injured. Anjali’s younger sister Nikita was just two year old during that period. Her mother Savitri’s world came crashing down with the sudden loss of her husband leaving behind to single handed take on the responsibility of two young daughters and ailing mother in law.

Savitiri with a limited family saving couldn’t see a way to support her daughters education. Here is where an organisation called RatnaNidhi Charitable Trust (RNCT) stepped in as a saviour. She was provided scholarship for her two daughters through RNCT’s Education Sponsorship Program.

With the support of this program, Anjali has now reached to Class 9 and ranks second in her class.  While her sister Nikita is happily studying in Class 4. Watching her two daughter study, Savitri was also motivated to continue her education. She has now completed her 10th from a night school and works with the India Railway to support her family”.

RatnaNidhi Education sponsorship has been working in the field of education. This Program was commenced understanding the need to support children and families of terror attacks. Through this project, Ratnanidhi strives to break the barriers towards acquisition of education for the deprived and underprivileged section.

The Organization works hard to provide a fair chance to every child of this project, especially to the most deprived. There are more 60 children who are still in the process of completing their education and require guidance.

GOQii is currently supporting the cause through its Karma Platform and is looking for support from one and all. Walk, Run as much as you can and earn your karma points and donate them towards this wonderful initiative of educating those lesser privileged kids affected by the gruesome terror attacks.

To know more about the project visit http://www.ratnanidhi.org/Category/educational-sponsorships-for-terror-victims.

Get Active with Pokemon Go!

21212

Circa 1997: I distinctly remember those days in early 2000 when kids went crazy about collecting the Pokemon cards. My nephew was no different. He along with his friends played Pokemon Trading Card game. It was supposedly a competitive play that targeted all ages. His friends and he would discuss for hours together Pokemon characters which character they do not have and trade those.

Circa July 2016 : Pokemon Go is the flavor of the season. You find people in offices, college students and kids all walking with their smartphones or iPads trying to find something. When asked what they were finding? “We are catching Pokemon’. The latest craze is Pokemon GO, a location-based and augmented reality mobile game and the fever is spreading across the country like wild fire among one and all.

The fever has caught on in GOQii office as well, so much so that looking at the interest, Vishal Gondal, CEO decided why not get one and all from office as well as GOQii players together and find Pokemon. It’s been fun and I have gotten active walking more than I used to do earlier, said one of my colleagues.

Can this ‘Pokemon Go’ become your new fitness activity? It sure can. So keeping in trend with its innovative ideas to get people active and fit, Vishal Gonda our CEO decided to come up with an ‘Active Sunday’ when he saw his colleagues in office completely clued into this game. It was an Active Sunday of a different kind.

What was so different? Well, Active Sunday’s of GOQii on July 17th at the Hiranandani Gardens in Powai was a landmark event with at least over 300 people turning up for it to catch Pokemon.

This game that has now caught on like wild fire is interesting. If you look at it positively it can get each one hooked on to the game and get active and fit as it involves brisk walking. For all those not interested or making constant excuses to even walk this game can get them interested in walking. Many players thought it is a great way to get fit.

Once who have not been walking or serious about doing so because of the game can get active. Pokemon Go requires players to explore new areas around them. The game places more Pokemon, Poke stops and gyms in densely populated areas away from places where you belong and encourages you to walk significant distances to collect medals or incubate eggs.

But, the downside of this game is that one has to be careful where one is going. In fact, the game starts with the warning saying be aware of your surroundings. It can take you to the roads and to places you have not been before. Given the conditions of the Indian roads and especially Mumbai where pavements are uneven chances of injuries could be high. It is upon the individual to take care and play it in a manner that is fun and injury less.

The origins of ‘Active Sunday’ started 18 months ago with GOQii players coming to a particular outdoor venue be it a park or a beach in the city to run, walk and exercise together. The Pokemon Craze active Sunday was unlike any other active Sunday where barely 30-40 players turn up. It was a fun event with both kids and adults running or walking clutching their smartphones to catch the Pokemon.

To make sure that players do not get bored and have enough Pokemon to catch, GOQii attached Lure Modules to the existing Pokestops around the area. Lure Module is a feature that attracts Pokemon to a Pokestop for about 30 minutes.

The event was simultaneously activated in both Bengaluru and Delhi as well where GOQii players got together to catch Pokemon.
